Creative North held its annual awards to celebrate the outstanding talent, innovation, and collaboration shaping north Wales’ thriving creative digital industry. The annual awards, now in their 5th year, continue to highlight the growing strength of North Wales’ creative economy and the people driving it forward. 

Held at Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham on the 25th of March, the Creative North awards once again brought together and celebrated talent from the Creative-Digital sector in the region. Freelancers, Businesses and Organisations came together to recognise excellence in sectors including film, design, games, live events, and creative technology.   

The awards were hosted by Aled Jones-Griffith, Chief Executive of Grwp Llandrillo Menai and member of the Creative North Steering Group, who said “The Creative North / Gogledd Creadigol Awards continue to showcase the incredible creativity, innovation and collaboration happening across North Wales. This year’s nominees and winners demonstrate the strength of our creative community and the growing impact of the sector both locally and nationally” 

This year’s awards recognised a diverse range of creative work, from emerging talent to established leaders, and saw three new categories included.

  • Behind the Lense — Siôn Emlyn Davies, Sion Emlyn Wildlife  
  • Top Player — Chaz Carter, MADEBYCHAZ/Rarebit Studios  
  • Digital Vision — Rob Spaull, Reality Boffins  
  • Ground breaker — Canolfan Bedwyr 
  • Eye for design – Lisa Jones, LE Jones Art 
  • The Big Picture – Klaire Tanner, Creutech 
  • Sector Star – Carol Ann Jones, Academi Sgrin Cymru 
  • The Audio Wave – Ffion Medi, Dim Clem Pod 
  • Stage Innovation – Theatre Bara Caws 
  • Rising Star – Begw Elain 

 

Begw Elain said “It’s a huge honour to be recognised alongside so many talented creatives from across North Wales. The awards are a fantastic celebration of the region’s creative energy and community.” 

Carol Jones said “It’s a special privilege to receive this award on behalf of the Screen Academy. I appreciate the support the Academy gets it from the sector, from freelancers who collaborate with us, and we really understand the power of the ‘network’ in the region! A great night.”
